Measuring the Dollar Value of an Employee Assistance Program

Axios HR is partnering with Employee Assistance Center (EAC) to provide EAP services to our client companies.  You may wonder if there is value in such a program.  We believe there is and here’s why.

The National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism suggests the following formula can be used to calculate the approximate corporate loss due to employees’ personal problems and their effect in the workplace.  Our calculations are based on a more conservative troubled employee population figure, using six percent (6%) versus ten percent (10%). Use the following “worksheet” to estimate the cost.

Consider the potential return on an EAP investment. An EAP provides value to organizations by helping employees help themselves.
